Rain Rain Go Away

I can't wait for all this rain to go so I can get out and take some photos. Why does it rain so much in Vancouver? I was out in a park the other day with my son and husband and saw lovely flowers out. Typically I didn't have my camera with me. Why is it when I see a lovely photo opportunity I don't have my camera. I must keep my camera in my car at all times. I do hope that this weather improves for us all.
Lets hope spring comes for us all soon.

Inspiration

It has been a long time since I have written a post. As most of you will be aware, I have had a son since my last post. He has taken up most of my time, which is why I haven't had time to post anything.

I recently saw a video of a mother that took photos of her daughter while she was asleep. She inspired me to get back to taking photos again. So bear with me, while I try to get back into the flow of things.

Update!!

Oh, I haven't updated in ages. I have been very busy, unfortunately not with photography. I shall try to update my website soon with some new pictures. I have done a lot of studio work recently, with great models as normal.

Also I have been photographing for Kitsilano Neighbourhood House. They have lots of fun activities for everyone. I would check them out.

Recycle Your Old Cars

Today I went to help Shantel with The Kidney Foundation of Canada. She had a booth at the Show & Shine and Breakfast that was being held at Trev Deeley Motorcyles in Burnaby.
Shantel was promoting recycle your old cars by donating them to the Kidney Foundation. A great way of getting rid of your old cars and you even get a tax receipt, all for a good cause. If you would like more information please see the link below.

There were lots of bikes and fun by everyone. The breakfast went down a treat, there was also a band playing as well. Least it was good weather and a good turn out.

Cypress Mountain

This evening Adam took me up Cypress Mountain. What a lovely sunset, I just love the colours of the sky. Vancouver looks very small from up there. Downtown makes the rest of Vancouver look very flat.

Studio Photo Shoot

Tonight I shot a studio photo shoot with two ladies and two men. It was nice to have an even split of male to females. I really liked the blue background on the photo below, it also went really well with the pink jumper Jasmine was wearing.

I shall be adding more photos to my website, please take a look.

Thank you to all four models (Jasmine, Lindsay, Matt and Tony) for your time.

Canada Day Fireworks

Happy Canada Day! This evening I went to Downtown Vancouver to take some pictures of the Canada Fireworks. It was a great turn out and very good fireworks. Thankfully the rain decided to be nice to us and stayed away. I managed to get some pictures of the fireworks, please take a look of my website for more pictures.

Photo Shoot at Langara College

I did a photo shoot at Langara college this evening. I took photos in and outdoors of motion, portraits and still life. Langara College grounds are really nice, lots of greenery and thankfully it wasn't raining this week. I worked with Alana on this shoot and she was great. It was nice to bounce ideas of each other.

Outside Photo Shoot

This evening I did an out of doors photo shoot. Unfortunately it started to rain half way through and not great light. I managed to get some photos of the models, before it started to rain. Why does it have to rain in Vancouver. Thank you to both models, Lindsay and Chris for sticking it out as long as they did.

Another Still Life Photo Shoot

I seem to be doing lots of Studio Photo Shoots at the moment and all still life. We even had trucks in this one. I really like the way it looks like the truck is in a spot light.

Studio Photo Shoot

This evening I did a still life photo shoot in a Vancouver studio. We used all sorts of things from Chinese Tea Pots to the good old wine bottles. We even had a Buddhists head. My favourite one is below, a copy of a photo with the proper lighting:

Adobe Lightroom

I had a fun time messing around in Lightroom this evening. You can do quite a lot of interesting things in Lightroom. If you have a spare few hours, I would recommend playing with this software. I will warn you though you could spend hours and hours changing photos.

Below is what I was playing with.

Central Park

I did a photo shoot in Central Park today. It was a lovely day and everyone was enjoying themselves. I even managed to get some great shots of Squirrels. As it was such a lovely day the reflections on the water from the tress made a great photo.

I didn't realise how big Central Park was, I spent over two hours there. I even saw a little girl try to pick up one of the squirrels. It was a amazing how tame they were. I am guessing that they are used to people feeding them.

I have added the photos to my Flickr Photo Stream.

New Header

I have produced a new header, which looks a bit better than just words. I must say it is easier to be behind the camera than in front. What do you think of it?

I have changed the look of my blog to fit in my new header. It is slowly looking the way I want it to look.

I would just like to say thank you to my lovely husband, Adam. He has helped me through out with taking photos of me, ideas and been a lovely model for me. I know you hate photos being taken of you and you were great. Thank you so much for your help and support.

Night Photography

Last week I went to Vancouver Planetarium and took some night photos.
I have to say this must be my favourite technique so far, taking photos in the dark without a flash and painting with light.
Thankfully it wasn't raining and a good night by all.

The picture below is of Vancouver at night.
